Job overview

The Walton Centre is a dynamic and supportive NHS Trust committed to providing exceptional care to our community. Our Estates and Facilities (E&F) team plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

We are seeking a dedicated Estates and Facilities Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and cleaning tasks, as well as collaborating with the wider E&F team to support both planned and reactive tasks across the Trust.

 

Main duties of the job

The role's main duties are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Cleaning and maintenance of ventilation systems in clinical and non-clinical areas
  •  Routine flushing of water outlets to support the Trust approach to water safety.
  • Inspection and replacement of point of use water filters
  •  Undertake de-scaling of taps
  •  Operation and isolation of fire alarm systems during tests and other activities
  • Testing of emergency lighting
  • Supporting Estates and Facilities projects by completing minor works (i.e. furniture moves, building office equipment, installing and removing protective coverings)
  • Supporting statutory compliance and safe work practices.
  • Inspect planned and reactive maintenance works to uphold quality standards and compliance. 
  • Supporting the Estates and Facilities operatives and managers with day-to-day operations.
  • Liaising with sub-contractors to ensure the successful delivery of estates projects.
  • Recording and maintaining records as require

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualification in a related discipline or evidence of a relevant level of experience within a technical field
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised Health and safety qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of completing estates and facilities related projects
  • Knowledge of risk management including working within the defines of a risk assessment and method statement.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and Information Governance
  • Knowledge of health and safety practice relevant to healthcare estates and facilities industry, including COSHH
  • Possession of good judgemental and analytical skills
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of water safety risks and mitigations.
  • Proven record of project delivery within a healthcare environment
  • Computer literate and fluent with all Microsoft packages
  • Evidence of completing estates and facilities related projects within a healthcare environment.
