Job overview

The Post Holder will provide the necessary supervisory skills to ensure the management of attendance, redeployment and conduct of the directly employed labour (D.E.L) staff in their daily duties.  They will also ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical and mechanical engineering services and building plant and fabric situated with Wirral Community Health and Care Foundation Trust (WCHC) and those organisations that have contractual arrangements with WCHC.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with and in support of the estates team to ensure compliance and legislation is always achieved and will provide
professional and technical assistance as appropriate. Day to day responsibility will include assisting in the management of operational aspects of Trust buildings, its partnership organisations and internal clients

The post holder will contribute to the planning and delegation of minor estates schemes/projects, including liaison with operational teams and professions such as contractors, suppliers, planning officers and specialist consultants.

As a valued member of the team, you will have the ability to manage a demanding workload in order to provide an efficient and effective service.

You will be a confident, self-directed individual with a strong team focus as well as being able to work independently when required. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications and professional training

Essential criteria
  • HND Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services
  • City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent Craft Certificate in any trade or equivalent
  • A recognised Trade Apprenticeship or relevant experience in mechanical/electrical or building maintenance.
Desirable criteria
  • Health & Safety Qualification i.e. NEBOSH
  • Training and/or experience in staff management/ supervision

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • HNC/D or equivalent (or working towards HNC) or relevant experience
  • Experience of ordering and delivery of parts/materials, and services of contractors by raising orders via SBS system or equivalent using various methods of communication (verbal & written).
  • Experience and ability to supervise of DEL trade staff and contractors
  • Experience of budget management
  • Experience of Project Management for minor works to include planning, procurement, and management of contractors and SSW/RAMS.
Desirable criteria
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in Health care environment.
