Job overview

To work as part of a team to ensure the effective performance of the computer information systems used at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. 

The clinical systems analysts are responsible for troubleshooting problems and challenges within the clinical information systems. This may include clinical processes, software problems, hardware issues. The clinical systems analyst also performs checks to ensure that data is entered and retrieved correctly and that all regulations regarding confidentially, and security are being followed.  

Main duties of the job

To support the scoping, monitoring and implementing specific clinical system projects to a wide variety of staff groups with the Trust whilst prioritising all workload in an appropriate manner, to ensure all project deliverables are met, within the agreed timescales.   

Supporting specific WUTH services and ways of working to enable appropriate training needs analysis. Thereafter liaise with the wider clinical training team ensuring appropriate training solutions are in place to ensure that systems can be utilised to their full potential.  

Where appropriate work with project and programme management to ensuring project / programme reports are developed and forwarded in an appropriate manner to ensure the WUTH’s progress is accurately performance monitored. 

Undertake testing and evaluation of products / solutions prior to deployment to ensure they are fit for purpose and fully document the findings, to ensure risks are minimised. 

Responsible for escalating issues that are beyond the control of the post holder to the Specialist or Advanced Clinical IT Systems Analyst. 

Responsible for interrogating patient identifiable information within clinical systems to initially identify data quality issues and thereafter develop a change plan to resolve gaps in data quality to ensure that WUTH meets National standards. 

Support customer engagement activities e.g. attend and set up events, demonstrations, presentations etc.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Clinical or management / administration qualification to degree level or equivalent relevant experience e.g. working at a band 4 level with additional continual professional development with significant awareness of Information System
  • Experience in an NHS Provider Services environment, either in a clinical or administrative roll.
Desirable criteria
  • Prince 2 Foundation
  • Clinical Information System management and development
  • Experience of supporting projects with process redesign and change management experience and creation of documents to agreed standards
  • Staff supervision

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Understand the requirements of Data Protection Act, Computer Misuse Act, and Trust systems security policy and be aware of the requirements of Information Governance, Clinical Governance and Caldicott.
Desirable criteria
  • Training skills
