Job overview

The purpose of the role is to promote Information Governance best practice across the Trust by developing policies, guidance and designing training resources. Support Trust compliance with Information Governance regulatory and legal requirements.

Audit and analyse the Trust’s Information Governance compliance, including the completion and submission of the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit return to NHS Digital.

There may be the option of hybrid working.

Main duties of the job

Advise on the legal processing of data and provide support for the appropriate sharing of data between collaborative services, third parties contractors and other agencies.

Operational management of the Data Quality Team, the IG Support Officer and the IG Audit Officer. 

Deputise in the absence of the Head of Information Governance & Records Management.

Completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Data Protection Law or substantial comparable experience/knowledge in Data Protection & Key Legislation
  • Significant experience working at senior level in Information Governance or a related area
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • A data protection qualification (eg. ISEB or Certified Practitioner)
  • A data security qualification (eg. CISMP, CISSP, ISMS Risk Management)

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Advanced keyboard and computer skills with full working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of the National Data Guardian's data security standards.
  • Full understanding of existing legislation which impacts upon Information Governance, including the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and guidance in the Records Management Code of Practice for Health and Social Care 2016
  • Knowledge of information risk analysis with the ability to interpret and use complex data.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Cerner Millennium.
  • Advanced keyboard and computer skills with full working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills with a high level of written and verbal communication skills.
