Laundry Assistant

Job overview

We are looking for a General Laundry Assistant to assist in the provision of a linen service to our Aintree Hospital site.

The successful candidate will have a general understanding of the importance of cleanliness in a healthcare environment, as well as basic Health and Safety knowledge.

This post is for 12 months.

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The Laundry Services Department remove soiled linen to be washed and replaces with fresh linen from the laundry at Aintree Hospitals. Staff in Laundry may be required to work in any of the buildings/sites/departments/wards/clinics serviced by Aintree Hospital and partners.

Involved in the preparation and service of patient areas, including bedded areas, wards, departments, clinics, theatres or any other non-occupied areas.

Required to undertake a wide range of deliveries and monitoring duties associated with maintaining a high standard of service ensuring that at all times a timely service provision is offered, maintaining trust values.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Receive and sort all foul linen from wards and departments.

Wash all linen in appropriate machines as per instructions for each specific type.

Dry all washed linen in appropriate machine

Press, fold and pack all linen using appropriate equipment.

Operate as part of a team when directed by Team Leader/Supervisor.

Keep floors and equipment clean at all times, regularly sweeping floors and removing lint from machines.

Reporting of all faults in equipment to the Team Leader/Supervisor.

Ensure that personal conduct and hygiene are of the highest standard whilst on the hospital premises.

Notify supervisor or other relevant staff of faulty equipment, building/equipment repairs, maintenance requirements, and requests for personal protective equipment/light equipment.
