Phlebotomists at Wythenshawe MFT are responsible for safely and efficiently performing venipuncture on patients requiring blood tests.  In Phlebotomy we work as a team to support multidisciplinary colleagues in the safe and effective collection of blood samples supporting timely test resulting and patient flow throughout the wards at Wythenshawe hospital, we support outpatients by providing phlebotomy clinics at Withington community Hospital and within Wythenshawe Outpatients department as well as working in the community supporting General Practices with an in-house Phlebotomy service.

Having a blood test done is often an essential step in a patient’s diagnosis/treatment and the care we give makes a real difference to this journey.  To support this, it is necessary that you have excellent team working and communication skills and the desire to share knowledge and work within an inter-professional framework. You will be required to work flexibly which will include weekends and bank holidays.

This post will also require some community work on rotation therefore you must be able to travel throughout the locality, in a timely manner. You must have access to a car and hold a current driving license.

The post holder will need to attend a period of induction and training on commencement of the role.

Experience of dealing with patients and staff in the hospital environment or blood test clinics will be of benefit.
