Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support an established team of band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialists supporting patients and families with Lung Cancer from prediagnosis, diagnosis, thoracic surgery, and systemic anti-cancer treatment and through to supportive and/or palliative care.
The opportunity to work within a team that is part of a large innovative lung cancer directorate, leading many developments and changes in the support and management of lung cancer.

leadership and management of the Macmillan Lung Cancer CNS team
delivery of training and support in relation to lung cancer

- registered general nurse
- Educated to degree level or evidence of degree level studies
- Mentorship qualification/evidence of work with learners
- Evidence of Advanced communication skills training and level 2 psychological support
- Evidence of relevant post qualification study at post graduate level or equivalent knowledge
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a nurse at band 6 in lung cancer setting
- Evidence of working within multidisciplinary teams
- Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups
- Comprehensive knowledge of lung cancer diagnostics, treatment pathways and symptom management

- Masters degree or working towards
- Previous experience of working as a CNS
- Evidence of involvement in delivering communication skills training
- Knowledge and skills in relation to identifying and delivering staff support and supervision
