CARDIOLOGY DIRECTORATE

REGISTERED NURSE BAND 6

Permanent Post – part time (will include weekend working)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible individual to join our team of non-ward bases nurses who provide numerous services within the cardiology department. 

Applicants should have the relevant experience working  in  cardiology; patient flow; coordinating services and MDT working.

The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, good time management, be able to work well under pressure both within a team and independently.

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

Registered Nurse with relevant experience within the cardiology; patient flow; 

Understanding of NSF for CHD.

Clinical Governance awareness. 

Demonstrate leadership skills.

Clinical assessment skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Negotiation / influencing skills

To assist the Trust in reducing healthcare associated infections you should become familiar with the Trust’s Hand Decontamination Policy, attend mandatory induction training and be compliant with all hand hygiene standards at all times.

Main duties of the job

Undertake comprehensive health care needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate.
Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patients' needs.
Contribute to the organisation of multi-disciplinary, patient centred care.. Facilitate patients and carers to take an active role in care given.
Responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in their speciality. Able to interpret information and take appropriate action and lead others to do so.
To undertake and promote practice sensitive to the needs of patients and families from multi-cultural backgrounds.
Advise and support patients to manage their symptoms

  • Registered nurse
  • Evidence of relevant post qualification study at postgraduate level or equivalent knowledge.
  • Teaching I mentor qualification
Desirable criteria
  • 2 years experience

Experience

  • Nurse - Minimum 3 years at Band 5
  • Evidence of working independently
  • Participating in audit I patient surveys
  • Evidence of managing within a clinical area
  • Ability to work and as part of a multidisciplinary I interdisciplinary team
  • Awareness of relevant national and local targets I NSF frameworks
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Awareness of the Clinical Governance agenda
