Sister/Charge Nurse - F3 Lung Surgery

Band 6

Job overview

Ward F3 is a tertiary centre for Thoracic Surgery for Greater Manchester. We are expanding our bed base to meet the demands of the service. As a result we have six Ward Sister/Charge Nurse jobs available.

As a Ward Sister/Charge Nurse on F3 you will be in charge of the unit, you will be expected to attend board and ward rounds daily and co-ordinate patient care. You will be a confident and competent Registered Nurse able to advocate for your patients. You will be looking after patients who have undergone major lung resections.  You will be expected to manage chest drains, epipleural infusions and PCA's  daily. We currently have 10 monitored beds, allowing us to receive complex lung resection patients directly back to the ward, avoiding ICU admission.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to co-ordinate the daily running of the ward as Nurse in Charge.

You will be expected to confidently manage staff, including absence management, performance management and shift patterns.

You will expected to support the ward manager with clinical governance, IQP's and audits.

You will be responsible for supporting junior colleagues with their work load and be responsible for training on the ward once fully competent. You will be expected to deputize for the Ward Manager in their absence.
