Specialist Senior Technician – Aseptic Services

Job overview

We are responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have post qualification experience in Aseptic Services. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual, who is an excellent team player, flexible, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate professionalism, excellent organisational and communication skills. You must be able to work accurately, quickly and under pressure, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and be committed to deliver a high standard patient focused service.

Post will be based at Wythenshawe however may have to work cross site as required. This role will include 1 in 4 Saturday working at Oxford Road as part of a rota. Bank Holiday and on call working as part of a rota.

This is a part time post. 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will  work with wider senior management team and will support the Deputy Technical Operational Lead to ensure a high standard of pharmacy care is provided to all patients. 

Working closely with Aseptic Services senior technical team across MFT, you will lead a team of technical staff and coordinate the preparation and supply of aseptically prepared products.  Committed to high standards, you will ensure an efficient, safe and effective service is provided to patients.  You will contribute to our ethos of providing a positive, forward thinking, and professional working environment in which staff work with each other and for each other.  As a valued member of the team, you will be supported to develop your knowledge of aseptic services and managerial skills to progress in your career.

The post holder will be responsible for the training and assessment of aseptic services staff in their designated area in accordance with National, Regional, and local requirements.

The post holder will be involved in the quality management system including writing change controls,  deviations, complaints and SOP's. 

Management responsibilities will include drafting rotas, conducting appraisals and interviews.

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical council (GPHC)
  • NVQ L3/BTEC Pharmacy services
  • Relevant post qualification Aseptic service courses e.g. APDM,ASFM
  • Good working knowledge of safe safe dispensing and aseptic practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP and QA and its application to aseptic processing
  • Substantial experience as an aseptically trained technician
  • Previous involvement in staff training
  • Evidence of some staff training
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills
  • Good attention to detail and responsible attitude to quality and accuracy
Desirable criteria
  • Pre-and in-process checking within Aseptic services
  • experience using the EM2400 compunder
  • Active involvement in service development
