Job overview
MFT in partnership with the University of Manchester (UoM) delivers clinical training and experience to approximately 450 medical students at the Wythenshawe Campus. They are attached to the Trust in clinical years 3, 4 and 5 of their undergraduate medical programme.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the development, management, delivery and evaluation of training programmes in prescribing and therapeutics for 3rd, 4th, and 5th year medical undergraduates based at MFT Wythenshawe Campus. To line manage full time Education Fellows.
To act as a source of expertise advising students, patients, carers, medical staff, nurses and AHP’s across the Trust about medicines. To line manage Education Fellows in line with Trust HR policies and guidance.

Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of key principles of safe and effective prescribing and the risks associated with poor prescribing
- Knowledge of national guidance (e.g. NICE), evidence based medicine and prescribing legislation
- Knowledge of the Medicines Management, Clinical Governance and Modernisation agendas of the NHS
Desirable criteria
- Advanced knowledge of medical education agendas and teaching methods
- Knowledge of training pathway for undergraduate medical students
Experience
Essential criteria
- 3 years post registration hospital experience or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Experience in teaching small and large groups
Desirable criteria
- Experience of teaching undergraduate students
- Experience of curriculum planning and evaluating
- Experience of performing assessments
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to work as part of a team and influence other grades of staff and professions
- Proven teaching skills using various methods (e.g. face to face, online)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload, work accurately under pressure, and meet deadlines
- Ability to manage time, people and resources to deliver outcomes

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Vocational 4 year masters degree in pharmacy & 1 year pre registration training
- Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience

- Certificate in Supplementary/ Independent Prescribing
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
