Specialist Nurse - Burns Trauma and Rehabilitation

Job overview

We wish to recruit an exceptional band 6 Specialist nurse to work within the established Burns Trauma and Rehabilitation team, within the acute setting, based at Wythenshawe Hospital.  This role will require flexibility and will involve working in multiple settings, including other hospitals and community. It will require a team player able to work autonomously within the scope of practice. in the Nurse-Led clinics.  It is essential to be a car user and hold a full clean UK driving license.

The role requires wound care knowledge and ideally experience within Burns or Plastic surgery.

Main duties of the job

The role also requires someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in partnership with a diverse multidisciplinary group of patients, team leaders, and be prepared to make clinical decisions effectively within your own professional scope of practice.

You will need a positive attitude, be a team player and have a clear focus on our patient’s health and wellbeing throughout their journey, through the Burns Service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing related subject
  • Evidence of post registration study
  • Teaching / mentor qualification
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL
  • Wound care/Burn qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Nurse – Experience at Band 5 Burns setting or equivalent
  • Work independently
  • Participating in audit/patient surveys
  • Evidence of managing within a clinical area
  • Ability to work and as part of a multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary team
  • Awareness of relevant national and local targets /NSF frameworks
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Awareness of the Clinical Governance agenda
Desirable criteria
  • Working with students
  • Evidence of undertaking a project
  • Lone worker experience
