Associate Psychological Practitioner

This part-time role of the Associate Psychological Practitioner will be based within SWAN Primary Care Network (South Wigan Ashton North area), and the post holder will form part of the Living Well team and the Primary Care Network Mental Health team.

The role involves supporting the delivery of psychological assessment, formulation and interventions under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.  It may involve both group work and 1:1 work, as well as opportunities for service development and evaluation. You will be working alongside another part-time APP.

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing a high quality service to individuals and their carers/family/support system of all ages experiencing or recovering from mental health difficulties. The role requires skills in assessing, understanding and supporting formulation, planning, organising, reviewing and delivering recovery oriented and evidence based interventions to support the recovery of service users, as agreed with your supervisor. This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.

  • Provide a range of clinical interventions appropriate to the individuals’ needs.
  • Participate fully in providing quality care in line with evidence–based practice, local and national guidelines / standard operating procedures.
  • To manage own caseload under appropriate supervision from a Clinical Psychologist.
  • To liaise and negotiate with other agencies e.g. Adult Care Services, Children Schools and Families, Benefit Agency, Housing Authorities, voluntary sector etc., for joint planning with, or on behalf of, service.
  • To plan and use regular supervision effectively.
  • To contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings.
