You will be entering into a structured programme to properly integrate and support newly qualified paramedics into the ambulance service workplace, enabling the time to consistently apply academic knowledge, skills, and placement experience into confident practice. As a Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) you will be expected to undertake a two-year consolidation period of learning. This includes reflective practice and feedback, where thorough direct and indirect clinical supervision will help you to learn to apply your knowledge.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

A valid EU driving licence with no more than 3 endorsement Any person with a drink driving conviction in the last five years (whether or not spent) will not be considered for the role.

You must hold C1 on your driver’s licence in provisional or full to apply, and in full before a start date is confirmed. Any applications received without this entitlement will be withdrawn. C1 training/tests are to be sourced and funded by applicants.

Qualifications and Education

  • Able to meet the requirements of the Knowledge and Skills Framework for their role
  • HCPC registered Paramedic
  • Hold a valid EU Driving License (No more than 3 endorsement points. In exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered)
  • C1 Category entitlement (although funding for training will be available to those who hold a provisional C1)
