The opportunity has arisen for a band 6 physiotherapist to join the medicine and surgery team at Stepping Hill Hospital.

This post is ideal for a current band 6 or a band 5 Physiotherapist who is ready to progress in their career.

Main duties of the job

We are a proactive friendly and welcoming team comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists ,Technical instructors and Therapy assistants covering the medical and surgical specialities:

  • Intensive Care
  • High Dependency
  • Surgery
  • Enhanced recovery after surgery with preoperative involvement
  • Gastroenterology
  • Acute Respiratory
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Complex Medicine
  • Elderly medicine
  • Outpatient respiratory clinic

The right candidate will gain experience across all these areas to challenge, invest and develop .

Access to own car with a valid driver’s license in order to travel across the locality of Stockport for emergency on call  (or suitable alternative transport arrangements).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of relevant continual professional development

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and application of standardised assessments for specific conditions
  • Knowledge of therapy outcome measures for specific conditions
  • Knowledge of NICE Guidance, current research and recommended practice
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
  • Knowledge of intermediate care and community/support services
  • Knowledge of discharge planning processes

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working with individuals with complex Long Term Health Conditions and conditions within allocated specialties
  • Experience supporting junior staff, support staff and students
  • Previous experience of respiratory on call
  • Substantial experience in hospital covering various rotations including, medicine, ICU, surgery, Neuro
  • Experience of clinical governance including audit and risk

Skills & Abilities

  • Application of health, safety and risk management policies
  • Supervisory skills
  • Training and facilitation skills

Work Related Circumstances
