Are you an enthusiastic Registered Nurse looking for the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills, or soon to be a newly qualified nurse starting their career and unsure which clinical area you would like to specialise, if so the Emergency Department is the place for you!

This is an exciting opportunity to join our hardworking and dynamic nursing team in the Emergency Department where every day is different, and always something new to learn. Here at SFT we have both adult and paediatric services. We are a Multidisciplinary team with our own Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Emergency Nurse Practitioner team.

This department is currently undertaking a new build with a new, innovative Emergency Village being built!

 The post-holder will provide enthusiastic, passionate and innovative nursing care. As a staff nurse at SFT you’ll be expected to work within the NMC code of Professional Conduct working throughout the department in Majors Assessment, Minors, our Rapid Assessment Unit (Ambulance Triage) and Resuscitation to ensure that all our patients are seen efficiently and effectively, meeting all their clinical need.

Main duties include:

  • To provide high quality, effective individualised care to all patients that is compassionate and caring 
  • Recognises and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. Ensure all emergency equipment is fit for purpose and ready to use
  • Ensure that the patient's pathway through the department is delivered efficiently and with expert clinical and effective communication skills
  • Maintain clear accurate records of all patient interventions in line with Trust's Record Keeping Standards
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for patient
  • Participate in staff education and development, including utilising appropriate learning opportunities and to act as a mentor and resource for student nurses, adaptation and unqualified members of the nursing team

The post holder will be a Registered Nurse responsible for the delivery of high quality patient care and uphold the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) professional standards. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team they will be an accountable practitioner responsible for the assessing, planning, evaluating and co-ordinating of care delivery .

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90.  This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
