Come and join our dedicated and friendly team on Ward C4.
We are looking for caring, compassionate, enthusiastic and self-motivated Healthcare Assistants ready to help us to provide high-quality care and excellent patient experience in a 16 bedded Ward male medical ward.
As a Healthcare Assistance, you will be working very closely with the nurses and the rest of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a rapid recovery while high-quality care and safe discharges are provided.
The Healthcare Assistance role is key within our patients’ treatment as you will be providing, supporting and encouraging patients with personal care, nutrition and hydration, mobility and safety.
We value the job and effort of every member of our team. We value every input from the team members that help the unit to improve and achieve the standards required by CQC and StARS accreditation, and we value good communication and teamwork, this is key for us.
This exciting opportunity will be permanent and involves rotation into days and nights.
You must have completed your CARE CERTIFICATE and NHS experience would be an advantage.

You will be supporting your nursing team with clinical duties, taking physical observations, blood glucose monitoring, and performing venepuncture and ECGs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be expected to work within our dedicated multi-disciplinary teams and be involved in providing individualised care, assisting with patient hygiene and dressing, and meeting nutritional needs whilst maintaining their dignity and respect. Contributing to the safety and cleanliness of the environment whilst keeping good documentation.
Communications
- To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- To carry out ward clerical and IT tasks, as required.
- To carry out routine administrative/telephone related tasks.
- To communicate effectively when giving/receiving verbal and written information.
Responsibility for Patient Care
- Under the supervision of a registered nurse to assist with patient care activities.
- To maintain the confidentiality of patient information.
- To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the ward area.
- To carry out duties as required, meeting all aspects of ward catering.
- To carry out routine household management/maintenance activities.
- To maintain patient dignity.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide patients with exceptional care.
Planning and organising
- To organise and plan own day-to-day workload or activities to meet the demands of the job role.
Responsibilities for Physical and/or Financial Resources
- To actively contribute to the efficient management of ward resources, including ordering/monitoring of ward supplies.
Responsibilities for Human Resources and Leadership
- To support new or less experienced work colleagues to adapt to the workplace.

- To participate in training and development activities that are relevant to the job role.
Physical Skills and Effort
- Use of physical effort to carry out the demands of the job role (e.g. pushing and pulling trolleys/ support to maneuver patients

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check for £41.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this, it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
