Band 2 Domestic Assistant
We currently have Vacancies for Domestic Assistants to work as part of the Domestic Team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust at Stepping Hill Hospital. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people to join our current 204 strong team, who have a passion for delivering a quality cleaning/ decontamination service.
As this is a public facing service we are seeking individuals who enjoy customer interaction and have the ability to react to a changing and sometimes challenging environment. Our service covers wards, department and office areas across the site.
We use all the latest cleaning equipment and materials. We offer further development via apprenticeships/ NVQ opportunities.
The shift hours are:
Saturday / Sunday 08.00 - 13.00 (10hours)
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the FM operational team, responsible for providing a comprehensive support service in the hospital environment.
This will involve carrying out the following Facilities Management functions:
The primary function is general cleaning within the hospital environment, including clinical and patient areas such as the emergency department, Theatres, wards, non-clinical areas. You will be required to work in any of the areas following the required training.
To provide a high quality responsive, efficient and effective patient support service to wards and departments within Stockport NHS Foundation Trust acting in a caring and professional manner and ensuring we meet the National Cleaning Standards required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Carrying out daily duties as instructed by the Domestic Supervisor.
- General / routine cleaning of wards, clinical and non-clinical departments / offices, communal areas and public areas, toilets in line with the local cleaning schedules as designated.
- Assisting in any infection control deep cleans are directed by the Domestic Supervisor or Facilities Support Services Manager.
- Ensuring that all barrier nursing and infection related PPE is fully utilised in line with the displayed signs on patient doors.
- Ensuring that all cleaning materials are used in accordance with mandated facilities processes.

If successful this vacancy will require a standard DBS at a cost of £21.90, this will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
