Based at either our Birstall hub in West Yorkshire, or Head Office in Stockport. Travel will be between  hub and our services in Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

£51,956.42 to £60,217.45 FTE per annum (Dependent on skills and experience, pro rata for part time)

Band 7 Preceptorship applicants would also be considered.

Main duties of the job

As a Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist you will

·   Provide psychological assessment and treatment to young people with severe and enduring mental health disorders. Holding a small clinical caseload, with young people typically remaining in placement for at least 12-18 months, you will have the flexibility to provide intensive, integrative, and innovative interventions within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service policies and procedures.

·   Work closely and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that values skills and knowledge from all specialisms, including clinical nurse specialists, consultant psychiatrists, psychologists and psychological therapists, and the residential team. This will include providing psychological theory and knowledge to support assessment, formulation and management of risk within a unique and innovative service model that supports young people to develop resilience and learn to manage their risk independently. 

·  Ensure that psychological knowledge is integrated across the residential homes through training and consultation. 

·    Develop excellent leadership and communication skills within the context of a complex multidisciplinary and multiagency system.

·      Work in an environment where innovative practice is encouraged with excellent opportunities to:

o   develop and deliver teaching and training

o   contribute to policy and service development

o   engage in CPD

Are you a Clinical/ Counselling/ Forensic psychologist or experienced psychological therapist interested in joining  a team passionate about supporting young people with complex mental health difficulties in specialist residential placements? If so, Care in Mind offers an exciting opportunity.

You will join our supportive team of Clinical Psychologists/Clinical Nurse Specialists/Psychiatrists, providing direct clinical input, systemic interventions and assessment for young people with complex mental health difficulties, emerging personality disorder and complex trauma. 

The role provides opportunities to work systemically with residential staff teams, gaining skills in supervision, consultation, teaching and clinical leadership. 

You will be based at head office in Stockport but will be required to travel to our services across Lancashire for which mileage will be reimbursed.

The post is offered at 8a (Band 7 preceptorship will be considered for candidates with suitable experience)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will join our welcoming and supportive team of seven Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists. You will work as part of a comprehensive and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team providing direct clinical input and assessment for young people with complex mental health difficulties, including eating disorder, emerging personality disorder and complex trauma.

As a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist, you will have (As a minimum):

· Doctoral level training in clinical, counselling, health or forensic Psychology, including two or more distinct psychological therapies.

·    Current registration with HCPC

OR

a registered qualification in health care at graduate level in nursing, social work, allied health professional AND Post-qualification training in a specialised area of psychological therapy

OR

Professional training in one or more Psychological Therapies AND accredited membership of the relevant body

·   Minimum of twelve months post qualification experience or appropriate experience in training to join us at a preceptorship level.

·        Full UK Driving Licence

·        Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including at least six months clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health.

·        Experience of working multi-disciplinary team working and interagency collaboration

·        Knowledge of whole life span development and the impact on emotional, psychological and mental well-being.

·        Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least one evidence based psychological therapy relevant to the treatment of adolescents with complex problems and their families.

·        A commitment to supporting young people with complex presentations, risks and needs to develop resilience and move towards independence.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Doctoral level training (Clinical,Counselling,Forensic or Health)including two or more distinct psychological therapies.
  • Has a current registration with HCPC
  • Experience of, or willingness to train in, the use of ADOS for Autism assessments
Desirable criteria
  • Additional specialist knowledge or training in psychological therapies including models i.e., CAT, CBT, ST

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Has a minimum of twelve months post qualification experience
  • Has experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including at least six months clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health
  • Has experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life span’s presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
  • Has a knowledge of whole life span development and the impact on emotional, psychological and mental well-being
  • Has experience of multi-disciplinary team working and inter-agency collaboration
  • Has a knowledge of the theory and practice of at least one evidence based psychological therapy (i.e. CBT, Interpersonal Therapy, CAT, systemic family psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy) relevant to the treatment of adolescents with complex problems and their families
  • Has a knowledge of personality disorders and complex trauma
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
  • Ability to provide consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
  • Awareness of Child and Adult Safeguarding Procedures
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a community based mental health setting
  • Experience working with complex eating disorders
  • Experience working in an inpatient mental health setting.
