Stockport Foundation Trust is one of four ‘specialist’ hospital sites in Greater Manchester. Being a ‘specialist’ hospital will enhance our general surgery, anaesthetics, critical care and emergency medicine for the benefit of people in Stockport, High Peak, Cheshire and across Greater Manchester.

Job overview
As a successful candidate, you can look forward to working within a friendly and supportive environment where training and education are awarded high priority. You will be offered 8 weeks initial supernumerary status working alongside experienced critical care nurses. Professional development is supported within a friendly team structure. We also offer opportunities to undertake a recognised critical care course.

They will proactively engage with patients, relatives and carers to seek their views, gain agreement and keep them informed about their treatment and care. They will demonstrate compassion by recognising and responding to individual needs in a warm, thoughtful, sensitive and helpful way.
Maintain registration, and nursing competencies, and comply with NMC code of Professional Conduct and related documents.

Main duties of the job
Working as a registered Nurse within our teams you will have the opportunity to work with a range of supportive colleagues within the multidisciplinary team. Our innovative approaches to care based on our quality improvement programme means that Critical Care remains varied, no two days are the same which enable you to develop your expert nursing skills in caring for these complex patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Provides direct nursing care to patients requiring level 2&3 care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of SFT. Prioritises nursing care, recognizes deterioration in patients condition and escalates to the senior nursing team /clinicians immediately. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Provides teaching and educational material as appropriate, validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching. Leads the nursing team in the delivery of patient care collaborating with other disciplines to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. Participates effectively at the Quality improvements initiatives for the unit ensures that the Units KPIs are achieved and are aligned with SFT quality standards.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
