Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated enthusiastic applicant to join our hand therapy team based at Salford Royal. You will work with a team of Specialist Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists treating patients with a range of orthoplastic and rheumatology conditions, including care before and after surgery. You will work with members of the wider multidisciplinary team across a variety of clinical areas, including outpatient clinics, inpatients, community settings and patient’s homes. The successful applicant will deliver a range of hand therapy and occupational therapy interventions under the guidance of the therapists and support the administrative duties and day to day running of the hand therapy service.

Main duties of the job

·         The Therapy Technical Instructor will work alongside Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists within the rheumatology and hand therapy outpatient team

·         This role includes working within various outpatient settings in the hospital and in the community, using specialist skills to complete a range of therapeutic activities with a wide variety of clinical conditions.  On occasion support may be required on the wards/inpatient setting

·         Therapeutic interventions will include supporting in the assessment for and fitting / manufacture / adjustment of a variety of splints, braces, and compression garments

·         The role will involve the delivery of exercise therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, and patient education to support self-management.

·         The role involves visiting patient’s homes where patients will be fitted with equipment and adaptations as prescribed by the treating therapist.

·         As a Therapy Technical Instructor, you will be required to work autonomously within clearly defined parameters and competency framework.

·         To undertake administrative and stock control duties as requested to support the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services.

·         To be responsible for completing documentation for any interventions completed

·         Contribute to a service over 7 days via means of weekend working
