Salford Children’s Speech & Language Therapy Service is looking to recruit a creative and flexible Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of our schools and social communication team. You will be part of a friendly, experienced department who work closely with families and partner agencies to support children and young people’s speech, language and communication needs. We have a well-established service providing a ‘balanced system’ across Salford delivering universal, targeted and specialist levels of support. This role will involve delivery of clinical interventions in schools and homes and supporting and delivering our training offer to schools, parents/carers, and colleagues. The post holder will receive supervision, support and mentoring from a range of experienced SLTs across the service.
Main duties of the job
Main duties:
- To deliver universal, targeted and specialist clinical work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy Schools Team and Complex Needs Team.
- To assess and diagnose conditions and to plan and implement specialist Speech and Language Therapy programmes of care and treatment and discharge appropriately, using evidence-based practice.
- To work collaboratively with parents, carers and educators and to support children with a range of communication needs.
- To demonstrate clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
- Due to the nature of the post you will need to be able to travel to different sites as required by the service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (will also consider if expecting degree results imminently)
- Full driving license and use of a car
Professional registration
Essential criteria
- HCPC registration - license to practice
- RCSLT member
Knowledge, training and experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and demonstrated sue of up to date assessment tool relevant to the client group
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group)
- Awareness of the roles of other professionals
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative forms of Communication e.g. signing, symbols, communication aids
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
- Good planning and organisational skills and caseload management including prioritisation skills
- Demonstrates ability to be a good team member
- Basic IT skills

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
