Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Salford Nephrology service . The post is seen as an opportunity to advance to a level  not attainable during General Nephrology training 

This post is envisioned as an opportunity to advance knowledge and experience in a specific area of nephrology (kidney transplantation) and will also provide opportunity to undertake clinical research. The post would be suitable for post-CCT fellows or doctors with renal experience earlier in their careers. 

Successful candidates, depending on interests and previous experience, will work within multidisciplinary clinics.  There will be an opportunity to be involved in research within the areas of multidisciplinary clinics and in other areas in which the department has active research including CKD, renovascular disease, transplantation, obesity in CKD and in the field of dialysis (clearance, haemodialysis access surveillance).

Main duties of the job

The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of 220 staff including 23 Consultant Renal Physicians based in the Department of Renal Medicine at Salford Royal Hospital who together provide services to residents of West sector of Greater Manchester.  The post holder will be employed by Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, will be based at Salford but may be expected to travel to haemodialysis satellite clinics within the West Sector of the Greater Manchester conurbation.  

The potholder will provide care working on 25 bedded ward, undertake on call rota 1:8.   Support outpatient clinics across the west sector of greater Manchester.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council
  • Experience in Renal Medicine
Desirable criteria
  • Higher Degree
  • Complete Renal Training and in possession of Certificate of completion of training

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register-CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
Desirable criteria
  • Active involvement in audit
  • Publications
  • Evidence to show career progression

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • IT experience
  • Experience in Renal Medicine
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of treating Vasculitis
  • Ability to place ultrasound guided Vascular access
