Job overview

We are looking for a forward thinking, passionate  individual with proven experience within Respiratory and critical Care suitable for a band 7 physiotherapist to join our Respiratory team  here at Salford Care Organisation for a 12 month period to cover a maternity leave starting November 24. The role will contribute to Critical Care, Respiratory Medicine, Coronary care and post surgical wards.   You would be working alongside a fellow band 7 Physiotherapist and a band 7 Occupational Therapists  and a Band 8 team lead.  You would support a large team of band 3, 5 and 6 therapists in delivering care to the people of Salford. 

This exciting opportunity covers our critical unit where we receive major trauma patients from the wider greater Manchester and north west footprint. It is a fast past  service with many opportunities to develop your skills.  

Main duties of the job

  • To take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of respiratory patients, who may have complex and /or chronic presentation. 
  • To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To lead assessment, liaison, and decision-making processes on behalf of the MDT for patients referred to the service.
  • To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.
  • To plan, coordinate and evaluate the Physiotherapy Service in own work area provided to Respiratory in-patients and out-patients on a day-to-day basis, and to cover for any other area with this specific caseload as necessary.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSC Physiotherapy Degree
  • HCPC registered
  • Significant evidence of post registration development in Respiratory and Critical care related services
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate study in Respiratory and critical care related topics
  • Evidence of involvement in Respiratory and/ or Critical Care related research

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Advanced assessment and treatment of Respiratory and Critical related conditions
  • Evidence of strong MDT working in a clinical setting
  • Evidence of complex clinical reasoning in a Respiratory and Critical Care setting
  • Evidence of continued Respiratory and Critical Care relevant CPD
  • Strong evidence of supervision / competent clinical educator
  • Evidence of quality improvement work or Service development relevant to this clinical area
  • Evidence of understanding of NICE guidelines in relation to Critical care
  • Evidence of working with ventilated patients, weaning from ventilation and tracheotomies
Desirable criteria
  • Sound evidence of awareness of IST and leading on staff development
  • Good level of understanding of neurological conditions
