Site Coordinator Hospital@Night

Band 7

Job overview

The Hospital at Night Team consists of Site Coordinators, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Clinical Support Team who work closely throughout the night working alongside the medical and surgical teams.

You will be responsible for coordinating and triaging the clinical workload out of hours, utilising an internet based clinical paging system (iBleep) and will be able to provide clinical support and leadership out of hours, monitor staffing levels, risk assess and move staff appropriately in partnership with divisions.

You should have effective leadership skills, be a quick thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrate a good track record of being able to engage staff from all disciplines whilst maintaining high professional standards.

As well as supporting the bed management team with patient flow across the hospital, you will also provide support in ensuring safe staffing is achieved, respond to emergency calls, fire alarms and many other site issues.

Your role will involve making sound decisions, often under pressure, so a calm and pleasant manner is essential.

This is a crucial role in the organisation and requires the ability to work independently and pro-actively.

Main duties of the job

Please see attached job description and person specification which details the main duties and responsibilities for the role of site coordinator with the Hospital@Night Team.

Working for our organisation

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester.  Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford, to save and improve lives.

As a large NHS trust we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and working closely with local authorities and key partners. We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we’re always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate and inspire – to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including, a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely. To learn more about how you can gain a full NMC PIN to be eligible to apply for our vacancies in the future, please see the NMC website:  https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/register-nurse-midwife/trained-outside-uk/how-to-guide/
