We are delighted to advertise a permanent part-time Band 7 UGI dietetic role working as a member of the Greater Manchester Oesophago-gastric Surgical Multi-Disciplinary Team, based at GM OG surgical centre at Salford Care Organisation.
The role will sit within our Gastro Dietetic Team which consists of an ACP post, 4 Band 7 Dietitians, 7 Band 6 Dietitians, a Band 5 Dietitian and 3 Dietetic assistants. This role will be within the UGI services but our team supports patients within medical gastroenterology, colorectal surgery and general surgery. You would form part of the wider Salford dietetic team, which consists of nearly 70 team members across acute and community including assistants and admin.
You will work alongside the Greater Manchester Oesophago-gastric Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide holistic care and treatment planning for those patients diagnosed with an UGI cancer, plus those with benign UGI conditions.
Main duties of the job
We require a dynamic leader to join our established UGI leadership team who is adaptable, motivated and compassionate to work within this established service. It is essential that you are skilled in working as part of a multidisciplinary team specifically large scale MDTs in relevant oncological tumour groups. Experience of assessing and managing patients independently in an acute and outpatient setting is essential. Excellent communication skills and flexibility are essential qualities. You will be supporting patients throughout their early cancer diagnosis and treatment pathway and beyond so good communication skills and flexibility are essential qualities.
We are an innovative department so the role will also include elements of research, service development, audit, and quality improvement. You will be expected to lead in these areas to ensure high quality care and drive forward improvements.

Qualifications and Professional Registration
Essential criteria
- BSc. or MSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics or Post-graduate qualification in Dietetics 1 Professional registration
- State registration as a Dietitian with the HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Member of the British Dietetic Association
- Member of relevant British Dietetic Association Specialist Group
- Higher degree or additional qualification in nutrition related topic
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Expert clinical knowledge in UGI benign and cancer conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work in MDT
- Ability to develop individual nutrition care plans
- Knowledge of current best practice in clinical field
- Expertise in obtaining accurate anthropometric measurements
- Reflective practice and portfolio development skills
- High level of expertise in nutritional support
Desirable criteria
- High level of nutritional knowledge for the range of gastrointestinal conditions
- Evidence of CPD activities within specialist field
- Ability to interpret and analyse statistical data
- Membership of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group
- Experience of working in a leadership role (clinical or non-clinical)
