Salford Dietetics is a forward thinking team with a deserved reputation for quality improvement, service development and research activities. Coming to join our team within our rotational band 6 program will allow you to get involved in these activities first hand as well as being able to develop your clinical and professional skills in a University teaching hospital within a team of over 50 dietetic and support staff.

We availability to join the band 6 rotations based at Salford Care Organisation.  Staff within the rotations have monthly CPD sessions to develop knowledge around all the specialisms included within the rotations alongside other clinical and professionally relevant topics. The rotations last for 12 months and positions available currently within:

Aged and Complex Medicine (ACM)
Renal Medicine
UGI/Surgical gastroenterology
Nutrition Support Team
Medical gastroenterology
Neurology / Neurosciences
Critical Care

Main duties of the job

You should have good post registration experience of working as a Band 5/6.

Day to day activities but will allow you to develop a wide range of clinical skills. Within the wider dietetic team there are opportunities to develop other skills such as supervision, training and taking part in/leading on audits and QI projects.

Registration/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc. or MSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics Or BSc. in relevant science followed by Post Graduate Diploma or State Registration in Dietetics
  • State Registered Dietitian with the HCPC
  • BSc. or MSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further study relevant to post
  • Member of BDA
  • Post graduate qualification in nutrition or dietetic related area of study

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of working clinical in the field of dietetics.
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment in a range of clinical conditions
  • Working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Basic IT skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within their role
  • Sound clinical reasoning skills and justification of dietetic intervention
  • Evidence of CPD activities
  • Experience of team working
  • Ability to work independently to complete assessments
  • Able to recognise own limitations in knowledge and seek guidance and further support as needed
  • Experience of working with individuals and groups of staff and patients
  • Computer literate
  • Able to formulate enteral feeding plans
  • Good written and communication skills without the use of AI
  • Able to record keep in line with local and HCPC standards
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Ability to respond and be flexible to unpredictable circumstances
  • Able to take responsibility for own time mamangement and organisation
  • Ability to priortise tasks according to urgency
