Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Nurse, you will take on a senior leadership role within the team, providing clinical and managerial oversight to ensure the highest standards of care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Shift Coordination: Take charge of the ward, coordinating and managing patient care throughout the shift, ensuring smooth handovers, and maintaining continuity of care.

  • Patient Care: Ensure that all patients receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care, meeting both their physical and emotional needs.
  • Clinical Leadership: Act as a role model and mentor, promoting best practices in clinical care, infection control, and patient safety.
  • Decision Making: Make informed clinical decisions and manage complex situations, escalating issues to senior management when necessary.

This leadership role demands excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, ensuring the smooth operation of the ward and the delivery of outstanding patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely. To learn more about how you can gain a full NMC PIN to be eligible to apply for our vacancies in the future, please see the NMC website:  https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/register-nurse-midwife/trained-outside-uk/how-to-guide/
