This post offers an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced specialist neurological Occupational Therapist to embed their management and leadership skills within the senior practitioner role within the TLCO community stroke and neuro-rehabilitation team (CSNRT).

You will be a dynamic, professional, and enthusiastic team member able to work autonomously with a highly complex caseload. You will be able to demonstrate leadership and management experience and sound understanding of quality improvement methodologies. You will have experience of managing complex risk, networking within the region and ability to horizon scan.

You will take a leadership role in team and service meetings so contributing to the positive development of the team, and manage the supervision of several team members.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To provide a highly specialist patient centred occupational therapy service to those who are referred to CSNRT.

To undertake and support staff to complete the assessment and clinical diagnosis of highly complex neurological patients using assessment and analytical skills; formulating an individual treatment programme according to the patients goals using  advanced clinical reasoning.

To assess and manage clinical risk and accept clinical responsibility as an autonomous practitioner for a designated caseload of patients.

To actively network with colleagues across the organisation and beyond in order to support local development projects and ensure compliance with current clinical practice and act as a strong advocate for partnership working and interdisciplinary care.

To chair team & professional meetings and be responsible for the dissemination of appropriate information.

To manage the day to day running of the team; including service evaluation and design.

To provide line management to a team which includes, monitoring sickness absence, recruitment and the co-ordination of staff rotas in conjunction with the Business Support Manager/Officer.

To embed the principles of continuous quality improvement and innovation across the Division.

To support the Service Manager and Administration team to maintain compliance with performance targets and high quality data input.

  • Qualified to practice as a occupational therapist within the NHS.
  • Post graduate qualifications and experience to Master's level
  • Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council
  • Relevant post graduate training required to underpin clinical practice in the required area that the Senior Practitioner will be required to work.
  • Significant experience at a senior level of clinical practice in the speciality
  • Evidence of managing a clinical of patients with complex clinical needs
  • Able to demonstrate clinical practice at a senior level
  • Experience of managing / leading a team
  • Awareness of recent government policies and directives and the implications for community service delivery both health & social care
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to review and audit current practice and implement appropriate change
  • Ability to prioritise workload for self and team
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to work in a multi- disciplinary partnership including 3rd sector organisations
  • As this is an essential car user post (community only). Use of a car or access to a means of mobility.
