Trafford's Mental Health Support Team (MHST) forms part of a Thrive In Education model working in an integrated manner with our partnership agencies from the voluntary sector.

The MHST Thrive In Education Team has three core functions:-

  • To deliver evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health presentations
  • Support the mental health leads in schools/colleges to deliver a whole school approach to wellbeing and mental health.
  • Provide advice and guidance to education staff and liaise with specialist services to support children and young people to remain in education through the right support.

We work flexibly in and around the borough's educational settings, working alongside education colleagues to develop and provide preventive and early help support to pupils with low intensity mental health issues, mainly anxiety, low mood and emotional regulation.

A multi professional team around the school exists to work collaboratively to support schools including professionals from Educational Psychology, Early Help, 42nd Street, Mind and Place2Be.

We deliver low intensity, short-term, evidence-based interventions to Children and Young People in education settings as well as providing rapid access to relevant specialist mental health services via a Single Point Of Contact.

If you are passionate about early intervention and prevention in children and young people's mental health, then this is a team you will want to be a part of.
