Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Therapy Assistant to join our forward thinking and dynamic integrated Therapy Team on a number of wards including surgical, orthopeadics and medicine. Posts can be full time or part time to suit the candidate

You will work within an integrated model of care to provide timely assessments, rehabilitation, and support with discharge planning for our patients.

You will gain experience of working in a busy and pro-active environment where evidence-based practice is embedded and joint working, service development and CPD is encouraged.

We are looking for individuals who work well as part of a team and can contribute to innovative ideas on clinical pathways and can help drive forward excellence.

You must be adaptable to working with a range of patients and working environments with a flexible approach to the delivery of care. This must include a willingness to adopt working patterns that include weekends and public/bank holidays which may form part of your contracted hours or may include working additional hours.

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will work as part of the Integrated  Therapy team, in the speciality of one of the following surgery/medicine or orthopaedics .

You will provide interventions, for a delegated caseload of patients, with support and supervision of a qualified therapist,  undertaking administrative and stock control duties as requested to support the Integrated therapy services.

Essential Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 3 A-Levels or Health and Science T-Level or equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) Or - as a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway)
  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
  • Care Certificate either upon appointment or within 12 weeks of commencement

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a Therapy Assistant or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
  • Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
  • Therapy experience
  • Admin experience
  • NHS experience

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good communication (written and verbal skills)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work over 7 days
