 An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dedicated and innovative Dietitian to join our established Children’s Nutrition and Dietetic Community Team in Oldham.

 You will provide specialist paediatric Dietetic care across Oldham in a variety of settings including clinics, patient’s homes and special schools.  You will manage a complex caseload which includes home enterally fed children and neonates.

 The role will suit an experienced individual with a solid foundation in community paediatric dietetics.  The post holder will be a motivated, compassionate and dynamic individual.  It is essential that you have experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

 

You will line manage a Band 6 Highly Specialist Dietitian and represent the Dietetic service at relevant internal and external meetings.  This will include meetings with Dietitians from across the Northern Care Alliance (which includes Bury, Salford, Rochdale and Oldham.)  You will deputise for the Team Lead in their absence.  You will be actively involved in the training of students.  You will maintain clinical responsibility for your own caseload and contribute to the development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.

To provide specialist dietary advice to complex children and their families, in clinics, patients homes and special schools.

The caseload  includes complex enterally fed babies and children, neonates, complex disability, allergy and oral nutrition support.

To support patients and families during the transition from paediatric services through to the adult service.

To contribute to MDT meetings and service development projects.

Working within the Dietetic team to be an educator, providing dietary information and training for health professionals and students, to help improve evidence based and best practice.

To assist in the training of student Dietitians across the NCA.

To educate children and their parents/ carers. 

To provide clinical support and leadership for junior Dietitians. To be  involved in the training of student Dietitians.

  To communicate effectively with patients and carers to optimise the nutritional status of patients referred to the service. Highly developed communication skills of negotiation, motivation, explanation, and gaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients. 

To provide teaching for members of the multidisciplinary team , to promote understanding of the aims of nutrition and dietetic treatment and to ensure a co-ordinated approach to patient care.
