Job overview
We are looking to employ a highly motivated and organised individual to join our busy Reception team in the Accident and Emergency Department.
The post will involve dealing with telephone and face-to-face enquiries and a full range of administrative and clerical duties. The Department is extremely busy and the work is challenging, fast moving and sometimes of a sensitive nature.
Main duties of the job
You must have excellent customer service skills, be dedicated and courteous. You will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent keyboard skills. You must be able to deal with sensitive/confidential issues, be flexible and be a team player and ready for the challenge that this demanding but rewarding role will present.
You may be required to cover both early, late, night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 5 GCSE grades A-C or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Medical terminology qualification
Skills/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work on your own and use own initiative.
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Excellent keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- Practical and working knowledge of PAS, Symphony and other NHS IT systems
- Aware of current issues within the NHS
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous reception experience covering a wide range of office duties.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a healthcare setting

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
