Locum Consultant in Urogynaecology

YC73

Job overview

This locum post offers the successful applicant the opportunity to practise Urogynaecology at MFT, with a 10 PA job plan, for a period of 6 months. This is a locum post to ensure the service continues delivering exceptional care to women with pelvic floor dysfunction in the current healthcare climate and national challenges for urogynaecological services and provide on-call cover to the emergency gynaecology service across the trust. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team. Previous experience at Consultant level is desirable but not essential. The post will be suited to someone who wishes to gain experience of working in a tertiary urogynaecology unit and there will be appropriate access to professional development opportunities.

To maximise both the quality of care for women, and the professional development opportunities for consultants, it is expected that the successful candidate may need to work across more than one site, although job plans will be configured to minimise the need to travel between sites in the same day. A flexible approach will be required of the successful applicant to suit the evolving health care landscape in Manchester.

Main duties of the job

To support and complement the secondary and tertiary Urogynaecology services provided by MFT

To take a role in improving the quality of services in MFT.

To take clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of women under their care, both when outpatients and inpatients, and provide cover for women under the care of other consultant colleagues as required.

To deliver outpatient clinics as agreed on the job plan.

To deliver operative treatment in theatre lists at MFT sites, including anticipated participation in weekend operating lists

To participate in the consultant rota patterns for the daytime and out of hours working at Wythenshawe Hospital and Oxford Road Campus sites.

To provide out of hours care as described in individual job plan.

To undertake the necessary administrative work relating to the post.

To participate in clinical teaching and training of the wider multidisciplinary team.

To take an active role in Clinical Governance, with opportunities to lead and participate in audit projects relevant to clinical care.

To promote research and academic activity within the department.

To attend Trust and Departmental induction and complete all mandatory training.

At present clinical activities are based at Oxford Road, North Manchester and Wythenshawe Hospitals sites. As the SMH MCS service evolves, working may be required at other sites within the Trust and a successful candidate must be willing to be flexible in this regard.
