As one of the largest and most ambitious Trusts in England, MFT has an exciting executive leadership opportunity for an experienced Chief People Officer. Reporting to directly the Chief Executive Officer, you will be part of an experienced Executive Team determined to deliver the Trust’s People Plan as part of an overarching Organisational Strategy. 

The ideal candidate will provide inspirational leadership, with strong values that match ours and role model an unwavering drive to deliver the strategic ambition of the Trust as an anchor organisation in healthcare for the city of Manchester and borough of Trafford.

Main duties of the job

As a highly visible leader with a commitment to nurturing a culture that enables staff to be their best, you will drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Trust’s approach to staff engagement. Key to this will be your leadership on how we continuously improve organisational culture and promote MFT as a great place to work. Alignment of our workforce to activity, performance, financial plan will be central to the role.By creating a workforce for the future which includes new roles and capabilities you will be expected to direct and advise colleagues to achieve credible workforce planning and modelling.

Bringing board experience in a complex organisation or system, you will use your exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with others to maintain strong working relationships with partners across Greater Manchester, Trafford, and nationally to help facilitate the implementation of the Trust’s strategic and operational plans. This will include the management and leadership of a progressive workforce resource to drive service improvements that are contemporary, affordable, and efficient.

Qualifications - Academic / Professional

Essential criteria
  • General education to degree level or equivalent work experience operating at Master level.
  • Second degree/master’s level qualification in a related subject or equivalent knowledge, training and experience.
  • Track-record of continuous personal and professional development.
  • Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Skills, Knowledge Requirements & Experience - Strategic Leadership

Essential criteria
  • Board experience as Workforce Director /Chief People Officer in a complex organisation or system.
  • Demonstrable track-record in the successful management and leadership of progressive workforce strategies.
  • Exposure to national / regional work - related to workforce.
  • A demonstrable track-record of leading organisational development programmes.

  • A commitment to system and organisational excellence.
  • A commitment to close working with health and social partners in Manchester and GM.
