Join our world class team

There are 11 Cardiothoracic radiologists in the trust across all sites, all of whom are very motivated, which provides a fantastic learning environment. The appointed fellow will have the opportunity to engage and work with the entire team to gain valuable experience.  In addition, the department’s strategic plan will allow trainees and fellows to access PET-CT, Cardiac-PET and other specialist nuclear imaging.

There will be a dedicated clinical supervisor to provide support during the programme. This is in addition to an educational supervisor who will overlook the fellowship programme across all specialities. The department has a well-established fellowship programme across different specialities. The appointed fellow will have the chance to work with a larger team at their level.

Main duties of the job

  • Report cross sectional imaging under direct and indirect consultant supervision. This includes CT scans, MRI scans, NM imaging and plain films.
  • Prepare and present cases at Cardiothoracic benign and cancer MDTs including lung cancer MDT, Mesothelioma MDT, Interstitial lung disease MDT, Cardiac imaging MDTs including TAVI MDT and pulmonary Hypertensions MDT.  There will be consultant support in preparing and presenting the cases.
  • Perform interventional procedures under direct and indirect consultant supervision. Including lung biopsy, pleural, superficial and lymph node biopsy, lung ablation and chest drain insertion.
  • There is no on call requirement for the post, though sessions can be negotiated.
  • There will be a weekly session of hot reporting jointly with consultants, to maintain and develop acute reporting skills.
  • Complete quality improvement projects and present them in departmental REALM meetings.
Directly involved in education, this includes junior trainees, medical students, radiographers and sonographers. Trust wide and regional teaching will be encouraged and facilitated by supervisors.
