Specialist Acute & General Medicine Pharmacist Band 7 – Oxford Road Campus

There is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Medicine Pharmacy Team at Manchester University Foundation Trust Pharmacy team at Oxford Road Campus.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate you will be part of the friendly and supportive  Medicine Pharmacy team, providing a clinical pharmacy service with directorate responsibilities to a variety of medical specialties. You will be at the forefront of the development of our clinical service. During your training you will rotate through our many medical specialist/tertiary level services. Excellent communication skills are key, as you will be working with our diverse population, and with many different clinical teams. This post is based at Oxford Road Campus. Areas covered by medicine pharmacists at Oxford Road include: 

  • Respiratory including MDRTB
  • Acute Medical Unit
  • Endocrinology and Diabetes
  • Elderly Care
  • Frailty including acute frailty unit
  • Stroke and rehab
  • General medicine

We look forward to appointing pharmacists who are GPhC registered, have previous hospital experience, have a clinical diploma or are due to complete the first year, and have the necessary skills to work in our clinical service in one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the UK.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Vocational Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent Pre-registration training and successful completion of relevant examination
  • Job related Postgraduate qualification eg. Clinical diploma (or successfully completion of first year), or equivalent experience
  • Current membership of GPhC
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of the Independent Prescribing Course

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Professional knowledge acquired through the vocational masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent pre-registration experience
  • Post qualification experience in a relevant role practicing as a pharmacist
  • Current and relevant clinical knowledge in area of speciality
  • Demonstrable team working
  • Demonstrable commitment to CPD
  • Demonstrable experience in training of other healthcare professionals
Desirable criteria
  • Research experience
  • Awareness of current political agendas
  • Experience in supervision of other staff
