Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia

YC72

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists  working at a consultant level to join our Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia team at MFT due to expansion of thoracic surgery we are recruiting 2 new consultant posts to join our team of cardiothoracic anesthetists and intensivists.  These could be suited to a range of candidates including cardiothoracic anaesthetists, cardiac intensivists or those wishing to do both.  Person specification will vary to the type of post you are seeking.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within the Greater Manchester tertiary cardio-thoracic service hosted at MFT, undertaking a very broad spectrum of clinical activity with the opportunity to become involved in quality improvement projects and audit/research.

Main duties of the job

The Directorate of Anaesthesia and Critical Care currently has opportunities to be part of the consultant team, based at the Wythenshawe site, with additional scope to work on other sites within the Trust.

The Division of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine consists of nearly 200 consultants and the scale of the service across a number of hospital sites provides significant subspecialisation and the opportunity to develop within a particular area of interest.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 staff and responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites. The Trust provides a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

The Trust is the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

The posts will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital, with expectation that some work could be delivered across other sites within the MFT Group - to be agreed between successful candidates and the department.
