Job overview
To provide administrative support to the Pathology Secretarial Team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
This post will be based within the Pathology Secretarial Team and flexibility to work in all sections of the department will be expected on completion of training.
Undertake the apprenticeship within agreed timescales.
Main duties of the job
- Under supervision performing general clerical duties including opening and sorting mail, filing, photocopying, laminating, binding documents, sorting stationery.
- Under supervision to deal with telephone calls with people at all levels and email enquiries forwarding them and following up to ensure they have been dealt with as required.
- Developed to provide general audio typing using Winscribe, Webex recordings and Advantis.
- Developed to provide administrative support across the department
- Encouraged to participate in team working, ensuring workloads across the department are prioritised and up to date, this includes all office duties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Undertake general clerical duties including opening and sorting mail, filing, photocopying, laminating, binding documents, sorting stationery.
- Dealing with telephone calls with people at all levels and email enquiries forwarding them and following up to ensure they have been dealt with as required. Sort and distribute incoming post to the relevant teams.
- Developing secretarial skills such as audio typing from dictation or recordings of meetings.
- Undertake any training required for the role.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent (grade 4, C, or above) (E) or Functional Skills Level 2
Desirable criteria
- ECDL/CLAIT Qualification or working towards
Knowledge

- General knowledge of office procedures
- Knowledge of what constitutes excellent Customer Service
- Knowledge of administrative practice / secretarial procedures
- Knowledge of NHS environment
Experience

- Work independently and as part of a team

- Administrative / secretarial / office experience
- Customer Service experience
- Familiarity with hospital Patient Administration System (PAS) or other computer systems
- Experience of working directly with medical staff and other NHS Allied Health Professionals
