PCFT learning disability care hub have established a consultant led specialist learning disability clinical psychology pathway that works as an essential element of a multidisciplinary model of care. Working alongside principal psychologists and our consultant lead the post holder will benefit from a broad range of opportunities to embed learning and develop specialist skills across community, residential and inpatient settings. We are committed to developing our staff and supporting career progression. Successful applicants will have numerous opportunities to engage in CPD related activities. In addition to this the post holder will have the opportunity to engage with our learning disability research hub alongside our research partners across Greater Manchester.
PCFT learning disability hub welcome applications from people seeking preceptorship into an 8a role. Newly qualified psychologists are welcome to apply.
PCFT learning disability care hub has multiple opportunities available across 5 localities of Greater Manchester. We are seeking to recruit three 7/8a Psychologists into our care hub. The area that the psychologist would work into is negotiable. Successful applicants will have opportunity to work with adults and young people.

To practice as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary learning disability team providing a highly specialist direct and indirect clinical psychology services to people with learning disabilities with highly complex psychological needs.

PCFT learning disability care hub provide specialist community learning disability services which include adults community teams, children's community team, health inequality team and our newly established admission avoidance service for young people aged 16-25.
PCFT are committed to working in partnership with stakeholders across Greater Manchester to improve outcome for people with a learning disability. Our teams work closely with local system partners in response to local plans and objective while also offering opportunity to share learning and improvement across Greater Manchester and our own footprint.

The post holder will be a member of the Community Learning Disabilities Team and will provide clinical psychology services in this context. The post holder will be expected to work withpeople with learning disabilities, their families, support staff, and other professionals around highly complex, psychological, emotional or behavioural issues. This includes working with complex challenging behaviour, abuse, family breakdown, personality disorders and severe and enduring mental health problems, risk of harm to self or others.

Education/qualifications

- Doctoral Level Training in Clinical Psychology, or its equivalent from a British Psychological Society GBC-accredited Course.
- Current Practitioner Psychologist registration with the HCPC, which must be maintained.

- Post-doctoral training or qualification in additional specialised areas of Psychological Practice, including psychological therapy (e.g. DBT, CAT, Mindfulness) and / or approaches to challenging behaviour (Positive behaviour support, Applied, behaviour analysis)
Experience

- Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist.
- Experience of working as a Clinical Psychologist with adults or children with learning disabilities with complex psychological needs, challenging behaviour, autism and forensic / high risk presentations
- Experience of undertaking highly specialist psychological assessment of adults with a learning disability, using a range of specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment tools integrated with other methods of assessment and sources of information
- Experience of undertaking comprehensive risk assessments and developing robust risk mitigation plans in collaboration with others.
- Experiencing of developing and sharing multi-faceted, evidence-based psychological formulations
- Experience of delivering a wide range of direct and indirect psychological interventions, for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams
- Experience of providing psychological advice, guidance and consultation to a variety of recipients.
- Experience of promoting psychological mindedness within a multi-disciplinary team context.
- Experience of designing and delivering training
- Experience of providing clinical psychology leadership within a multidisciplinary context.

- Experience of undertaking service-related audit, service evaluation or research within a learning disability service
- Experience of adapting psychological assessments / interventions for people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Experience of contributing to service redesign or innovative service development.
Knowledge

- Knowledge of legal frameworks relevant to adults with a learning disability and autism.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to the role.
- Knowledge of relevant national and local service drivers for transformation and service development within learning disability services
- Up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based psychological practices for adults with learning disabilities and autism

- Ability to work creatively, flexibly and adapt approaches to meet referral needs
- Well-developed skills in communicating effectively orally, and in writing, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, families, carers, and colleagues, both within and outside the NHS.
- Good Information technology skills required as the team is paperless and uses electronic recording systems for all aspects of work.
- Skills in working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Skills in the use of a range of psychological assessment and intervention with complex and challenging clients, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Skills in maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse
- Well-developed confidence, resilience, and the ability to maintain a calm approach when faced with complex team dynamics and work pressures
- Skills in complex formulation, drawing on a broad base of theoretical knowledge and psychological methods.
- Ability to work autonomously, and direct and support the work of psychology colleagues
