Paediatric Specialist Audiologist

Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Specialist Paediatric Audiologist/ Healthcare Scientist to join our busy paediatric Audiology team at North Manchester General Hospital. The department is unique in providing all hearing services for adults and children under one management structure.   

We have a permanent, part time post (15 hours hours per week) for a passionate clinician, who is focused on ensuring a strong evidence base to decision making, with specialist knowledge and experience in paediatric diagnostics and rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The post involves a broad range of clinical duties, with a focus on paediatric diagnostic testing, treatment planning and hearing aid fitting for babies and children of all age. There is close liaison with the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, Paediatric ENT, Sensory Support Service and the Hearing Implant Programme. 

The post carries a high level of personal autonomy, responsibility and a high level of scientific knowledge, clinical skills and ability to communicate well with children, parents and other professionals.

The post holder is expected to be an active leader and a positive role model for the service who will deliver expert audiological assessments and interventions to patients, with a focus on maintaining clinical excellence and ensuring continued professional development on the latest advancements in paediatric audiology to ensure the application of evidence-based practices.

 The postholder will be expected to provide audiological expertise to aid colleague learning and monitoring. They will participate in service development projects, clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching of staff, students, and collaborating with other professionals/agencies. The post holder will have a specific requirement to support work towards IQIPS accreditation and development of a strong governance structure within the paediatric team which stimulates and leads continuous improvement.

  • PTP, BSc, plus other training
  • HCPC Registration
  • MSc or diploma in Audiology or Neurosensory Sciences PTP (Audiology) with clinical competency or equivalent BAAT I and II Registration with RCCP or HCPC
