Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Endoscopy Unit at North Manchester General Hospital as an Endoscopy Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. You should be a dynamic and experienced senior nurse with specific knowledge and skills of working in endoscopy.

As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse for endoscopy you will be responsible for co-ordinating on a day to day basis, assist in complex endoscopy procedures, planning, problem solving, using Electronic Rostering and staff allocations.  As an expert in endoscopy you will be able to disseminate your knowledge and skills to the wider endoscopy workforce helping to maintain high standards of nursing care for our patients. Band 5 or Band 6 looking to work in our dynamic department, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has just the job. That’s because, right now, we’re looking to recruit nurses for our Endoscopy Unit here at North Manchester General Hospital.

What more, we’ll be facilitating the latest and most current and complex procedures in our field, partnering with our counterparts at Oxford Road Campus  in order to commence an Endoscopy Academy for both nurses and doctors, coupled with a satellite teaching facility.

With access to 4 procedure rooms here on the NMGH site, our procedures are varied and diverse and include diagnostics and surveillance, gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy , colonoscopy, PEG insertion, bronchoscopy, EBUS, delivering high quality care to our patients.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level registration - RN(Adult)
  • Relevant teaching qualification
  • Qualified to function as mentor for pre registration students
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate management or leadership courses.
  • Safeguarding Study Day Level 3

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 years post registration experience 1 of which must be within an Endoscopy setting.
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice
  • Evidence of multi disciplinary/multi agency working
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Experience of research activities
