An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 Team Leader Occupational Therapist to work within the clinical specialty of Stroke services at Fairfield General Hospital. Main duties of the job

 

·  To take a lead role in the planning, delivery and development of the Stroke team at Fairfield General.

·  To work as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist knowledge, skills and experience in assessing and managing all patients on your caseload.

·   To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own professional and clinical work, working to agreed National, professional and local standards.

· To provide specialist clinical support for peers, Occupational Therapy team, and the wider MDT as required.

·    To work primarily within the acute hospital settings, but outreaching to the community as appropriate in the facilitation of safe and timely discharges.

·   To effectively monitor and identify any changes in the individuals within our care, working flexibly and compassionately in response.

·  Apply experience and understanding of the relevant discharge pathways, and community resources available, within Bury and the surrounding areas.

·    To work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, taking an active role in the planning and coordination of timely discharges for this specialist patient group.

·  To plan, deliver and evaluate clinical audit, research activities and in-service training within specialist area.

  • To support Operational leads with workforce planning and recruitment
  • To support Operational Leads in the investigation of formal complaints and incidents.

  • Post graduate training in specialist area

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • Significant post registration experience
  • Evidence of wide clinical and theoretical knowledge base and specialist knowledge in the assessment and treatment of specialist patient group
  • Significant experience of MDT working
  • Ability and evidence to work as part of a team, uni-professionally and multi-professionally
  • Evidence of supervising other staff, registered and non-registered, and students
  • Evidence of contribution to service development and improvement
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet the needs of the team and service
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Evidence of CPD
  • To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within their role
  • Understanding of NHS services and pathways relevant to role
  • To be able to demonstrate a general understanding of the role to which applying
  • To have an understanding of and adhere to relevant Trust/national policies and procedures including, but not limited to, data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety.
