This is post is an excellent opportunity for an early career Orthoptist wanting experience of a full range of Orthoptic services. The Community Eye Service is an Orthoptic led service providing a wide range of core, advanced and extended practice clinics across Bury and Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, including Glaucoma, Low Vision, SEND, Stroke and Visual Processing Difficulties Clinics. This is a community based service but we also provide Orthoptic and low vision clinics to the Ophthalmology team at Rochdale Infirmary giving this postholder a unique opportunity to experience and develop a broad range of skills. We work with a number of multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams and can provide experience of diverse work.

New starters with little or no previous experience are welcome to apply and anyone in their first year of employment will be provided with preceptorship. This experienced and highly qualified team will provide mentoring and support you on to your path to a successful career.

Our well established team  invites innovation and new ideas , anyone showing enthusiasm for Orthoptics and care for the patients will be given a warm welcome.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Main purpose of the job:

·       To act as a source of expertise on the management of ocular motility disorders to patients, carers, other health care professionals, GPs and consultants.

·       To provide the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients presenting with acute ocular motility deficit at Rochdale Infirmary and community settings in Bury, Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton.

·       To support delivery of school vision screening for all reception aged children in Schools

·       To support the education and training of students, other healthcare professionals, junior doctors and other senior medical staff.
