Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as Bolton Mental Health Support  Operational Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work in Children's and Young Peoples (CYP) Mental Health sector. You will play an important part in a forward-thinking service delivering interventions into schools and colleges within the Bolton area.

You will work in partnership with other service leads/ Managers and other Operational Leads, and will further develop the partnership working that is currently taking place between education, the local authority and the Integrated care board (ICB).

This role offers a hybrid working model, providing flexibility while ensuring effective team management and support. The MHST manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing mental health services, ensuring the delivery of high quality support to education settings across Bolton.

Main duties of the job

The post holder  will be responsible for the operational and financial management of identified defined service areas, for this post the Mental Health Support Team.  You will be  visible and accessible to staff and service users acting as a role model and champion for recovery and change.

The post holder  will ensure that care of the highest standard is delivered and maintained within their identified areas. This will be achieved through the setting and monitoring of key performance standards and ensure the development of the workforce.

The post holder will work closely with other team members from a variety of clinical and service backgrounds to provide a psychological perspective to cases as well as ensuring the effective delivery of the Mental Health in Schools project.

The post holder will ensure all interventions and care is delivered and maintained with the needs of patients/service users being central to service provision and development.

The post holder will deputise for the Service Manager and cover in their absence, reporting through to the Head of Operations where required.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Relevant professional qualification in mental health RMN, or SW- relevant core professional health based qualification or equivalent experience which requires professional registration with the HCPC or NMC or other professional body. • AND/OR A master’s degree or other equivalent post graduate accreditable qualification in a specific therapeutic - Must have accreditation with BABCP/BPS. • Specialist knowledge of Health Service Management and experience within a health and social care settings within the relevant field. • Experience of working with CAMHS.
Desirable criteria
  • • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of child and adolescent mental health. • A leadership/ management qualification • Masters level education or equivalent experience • Qualification in Cognitive behavioural therapy post grad diploma and accreditable

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience managing or leading projects/specific pieces of work in an NHS or Educational settings. • Managing projects within Children and Young Peoples Mental Health . • Experience of analysing, evaluating and implementing change which results in service improvement. • Experience of clinically working within Children and young people’s Mental Health services. • Experience of operational management and service delivery. • Experience of managing and reporting risks. • Experience of change management . • Experience of working with cross sector partners. • Experience of actively working as part of a MDT in order to achieve shared goal. • Experience of managing staff performance and disciplinary issues efficiently. • Experience of maintaining quality standards in one’s own work and encouraging others to do so in theirs. • Experience of commitment to service user involvement. • Experience in managing psychological therapy provision/psychological therapists

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Extensive knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health. • Awareness of policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality, information sharing and child protection • Must demonstrate knowledge of the evidence base in their practice. Must demonstrate understanding of child development and psychosocial influences. • Must demonstrate a working understanding of systemic, psychodynamic and cognitive theories along with recognition of when each approach is appropriate. • Must demonstrate knowledge of audit and evaluation methodology. • Must demonstrate an understanding of current government initiatives underpinning service developments. • Awareness of Key Performance indicators to support the achievement of local and national targets. • Knowledge of equal opportunities legislation • development in line with government initiatives. • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised therapies in specific difficult to treat groups. • High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised therapies/ Interventions.
Desirable criteria
  • • Level of knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of child and Adolescent mental health.
