Job overview
We are looking for Maintenance Assistants to join the Estates Team at Pennine Care Foundation Trust.
We are looking for people that are confident in DIY and maintenance
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside our multi-skilled technicians across all building trades as required, offering a comprehensive specialist engineering service to all wards and departments in a multi-disciplined environment, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Basic numeric and literacy skills
- NVQ Level 2 in Electrical, Building or Mechanical Services or equivalent experience
- Commitment to complete in-house training
- Experience to NVQ 3 level
Desirable criteria
- Confined Spaces Certificate
- City & Guilds in PAT Testing
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in Electrical or Mechanical Services
- Experience of working in the building industry
- Be familiar with the use of step ladders and scaffold
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in Hospital environment
- Computer literate and keyboard skills
- Experience of using a fall arrest system when working at heights
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Electrical and Mechanical Services Working at height
Desirable criteria
- Building services
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Written and verbal communication skills in order to be able to liaise with staff at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
- Ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable criteria
- Training in Building, Electrical or Mechanical Services
Work Related Circumstances
Essential criteria
- Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
- Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
- Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
