Do you have an interest in working in children’s services as a Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant?

This post would suit someone who has an interest in working with children and supporting the physiotherapy team. We particularly welcome candidates with previous experience as a physiotherapy assistant/technician. This post does not require a physiotherapy qualification.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant to join our friendly paediatric physiotherapy team delivering physiotherapy services to children with special educational needs in mainstream and special schools, nurseries and the community. The team is part of an integrated Paediatric Therapy Service and offers a multi-disciplinary, family centred rehabilitation service to children with a variety of complex needs.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver an effective and competent level of support to clinical and school staff to enable the delivery of physiotherapy to children and young people aged 4-19 years with complex health needs in a variety of community settings.

The work is varied and requires the applicant to have a flexible approach and to be able to promote good customer service and effective working relationships.

  • Significant experience as a physiotherapy assistant/practitioner
  • Working with Children and young people with physical difficulties
  • Working with parents and carers.

  • Working with a physiotherapist
  • Running groups
  • Administration tasks

  • Experience working with electronic patient records such as systmne/RIO/EMIS
  • Experience working with databases/excel spread sheets

Skills & Knowledge

  • Good interpersonal skills – including observation, listening and empathy skills

  • Confident in liaising with public and other professionals
  • Ability to work in an unpredictable environment and to prioritise own workload.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people of all ages and abilities.
