Job overview

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with serious mental illness? Do you have a strong commitment to improving both mental and physical health outcomes? If so come and join our dedicated team at NELFT's Mental Health and Wellness Teams Physical Health Clinic.

Our Physical Health Clinics are designed to offer administration of depot injections to SMI patients in Mental Health and Wellness Teams. The clinics monitor patients on clozapine medications,  and provide physical health checks including blood tests and vital sign monitoring

As a Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse, you will oversee the delivery of clinical care for patients with severe and enduring mental illness who attend the Depot, Clozapine, and Wellbeing Clinics, including satellite clinics elsewhere within the Borough.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough physical health assessments and develop individualised care plans for patients with serious mental illness.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to best practice guidelines.
  • Ensuring the day to day smooth running of the clinical clinics.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with NELFT policies and procedures

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).

Our successful candidate will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration and will have:

  • Significant post-registration experience in mental health nursing, preferably in a community setting.
  • Strong understanding of the physical health needs of individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice
