Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced individual to work within our Unplanned Care Division.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate a positive attitude with an ability to develop and improve services in collaboration with clinical colleagues. The successful candidate will therefore have a track record of managing and leading teams in a complex and changing environment.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the services, with particular reference to Elective recovery, patient experience, operational performance, and budgetary control. Experience of DM01, RTT and cancer performance management is essential and applications would be particularly welcome from those candidates with previous experience within Endoscopy and Cardiology.

You should be able to work independently to identify and plan for service needs, in line with demand and under the supervision of department's Senior Service Managers.

In addition, you will lead an administrative team and will work in partnership with Consultants, Matron/Lead Nurses, Ward/Outpatient Managers, and medical staff to develop plans that focus on the continuous improvement of patient pathways.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for a number of specialties and the delivery of key national and local targets such as RTT, cancer & diagnostic waiting time standards. The post holder will work with clinical leads to ensure safe and efficient services are delivered in line with the Trusts CARES values. Additional responsibilities are as follows:

  • To lead and facilitate service development, improvement to patient pathways in collaboration with the clinical leads and multidisciplinary team and stakeholders both in and out of hospital.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive capacity plan that ensures the delivery of both key access targets and savings attributed to the services within the portfolio.
  • To support the Senior Service Manager in developing and implementing strategic plans in relation to integrated care and service re-design for acute hospital services.

Working for our organisation

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services, including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics, and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit, and outpatient clinics.

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is paramount and we are making urgent improvements to address this – particularly in infection prevention and control. We are making progress by working in partnership with local GPs, charities, community services, academic partners, our local authority, neighbouring hospitals, and the wider North West London Integrated care system, and ensuring that we listen and work in partnership with our local population. We are focused on ensuring that our hospitals provide high quality, safe, and compassionate care, while we drive forward with the building of the new Hillingdon Hospital.

We have over 3,500 members of staff that are proud to care for nearly half a million people, with a vision to be an outstanding provider of healthcare through leading health and academic partnerships, transforming services, to provide the best care where needed.
