Job overview

An Exciting Opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Site Practitioner Team at The Hillingdon Hospital. This is a new developmental role as a Junior Clinical Site Practitioner working along side the Clinical Site Team.

As a member of the Trust’s 24-hour Clinical Site Practitioner Team you are responsible for the management of emergency and elective admission. 

Process across the Trust, ensuring safe and appropriate placement of patient’s by supporting efficient patient flows and optimal utilisation of the Trust bed capacity. 

Ensure all relevant national and Trust operational targets are achieved. This requires the ability to balance the demand for an optimal level elective activity, with a high flow emergency rate, whilst maintaining contingency plans for emerging site issues across the Trust.

This is a developmental post working as a member of the Trust’s 24-hour Clinical Site Practitioner Team with a vision to progress into a Band 8 a position.

Main duties of the job

To provide a senior nursing managerial support and advice to all clinical areas within the Trust, and to undertake advanced clinical patient assessments and interventions as a part of the Hospital at Night member at night and out of hours.

To participate and co-ordinate supporting the Trust’s emergency response teams to fire, security alerts, cardiac arrests, trauma calls, NEWS calls, other clinical emergencies, and to be responsible for the co-ordination and first line management of Major Incidents and serious untoward incidents as site management issues arise out of hours. 

To have a visible senior leadership presence in the hospital out of hours, maintaining high standards of quality care and experience for all our patients by working closely with all of the multidisciplinary teams, supporting them in management of difficult situations and patient care concerns, and ensuring safe optimal allocation of staff and resources. 

You are responsible for the management of emergency and elective admission process across the Trust, ensuring safe and appropriate placement of patient’s by supporting efficient patient flows and optimal utilisation of the Trust bed capacity.

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • BS’C in Nursing and Health Studies
  • Significant Experience in different and varied acute clinical settings, such as HDU, CCOT, CCU and confident working at a band 6/ 7+ level
  • Experience of teaching and assessing
  • Experience in team management and managerial decision making in the application of professional judgement in range of both clinical and nonclinical settings
  • Alert or Intermediate Life Support course
  • Cannulation, Phlebotomy and catheterisation (male and female)
  • Perform a comprehensive clinical assessment of the Adult
  • Master’s degree qualification or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in emergency or elective pathways
  • Previous Hospital at Night experience
  • Experience and knowledge of bed management flow
  • Management of NIV including interpretation of ABG’s
  • Advanced Life support course
  • Management to tracheostomy
  • Non- medical prescribing course
